Laser Therapy is an FDA-cleared modality that reduces inflammation and that results in pain reduction. Laser Therapy is effective in treating acute pain, chronic conditions, and post-operative pain.

Laser therapy treatment is safe, painless and fast. Treatments to deeper tissues are administered in 5 to 10 minutes. Typically, even chronic patients exhibit improvement after 3 to 5 treatment sessions. Laser therapy utilizes the body’s own healing powers by stimulating cellular activity. Despite short treatment times, laser therapy treatments initiate a healing process that continues to actively reduce inflammation for up to 24 hours after treatment.

Laser therapy is a unique therapy because it is not based on the development of heat but on the photochemical and photobiological effects in cells and tissues. Laser light positively stimulates the functions of injured cells. These positive effects include increased production of ATP (cellular energy). This means that if the cell is damaged and inflamed it can heal quicker with laser therapy. Even if the cell has undergone degenerative changes (such as arthritis), it can recharge itself with energy and begin to heal.

Laser therapy energizes cell function, promotes healing of damaged tissue, and helps restore body function. This healing can occur even after metabolic slow-downs due to immobility, traumas or surgical operations.

Laser therapy also stimulates blood and lymphatic microcirculation. This means that more oxygen and nutrition will get to the injured tissue. It also means that the drainage of cellular waste and toxins will improve. This leads to tissue healing.

Unfortunately we can’t cure chronic conditions like arthritis, but 6 Laser treatments over a 3 week period can give relief for 4 to 12 weeks. A single booster treatment when needed gives another 4 to 12 weeks of relief.

There is no anesthesia required as your pets feel just a little bit of warmth in their tissue.

The Laser treatment is very soothing for your pet. They look forward to their treatments.

After about 5 minutes of Laser treatment the body starts to release endorphines, a chemical release by the body that has a relaxing effect on the body, that also helps to reduce pain.

What is Laser or Light Therapy?

Laser Therapy is the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near infrared) to create therapeutic effects. These effects include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling.

Disorders that respond best to Laser Therapy:

          Pain Relief

          Wound Healing

          Arthritic Conditions

          Invertebral Disc Disease

          Pyotraumatic Dermatitis

          Post Surgical Pain Relief

          Degenerative Joint Disease

          Lick Granulomas

          Degloving Injuries

          Dermatological Conditions

          Periodontal Disease

          Gingivitis

          Otitis

Laser Therapy significantly reduces healing time for skin injuries and surgical incisions by helping to:

          Enhance leukocyte infiltration

          Increase macrophage activity

          Increase neovascularization

          Increase fibroblast proliferation

          Promote keratinocyte proliferation

          Promote early epithelialization

          Increase growth factor

          Enhance cell proliferation and differentiation

Increase tensile strength in wound healing
